Culture Collective

 

Kerry Jones (Culture Collective Coordinator) and Felicity Bristow (Culture Collective Coordinator Support) have been busy meeting people from groups and organisations in Galashiels including from Bid, Energise Galashiels and Borders College to talk about how we can connect and work with each other to Imagine Galashiels, working to build connections and collaborations as well as finding out all the positive things that are already happening and being imagined for our town.

 

They also attended the first online session to meet the other Culture Collective projects around Scotland – it’s great to have Little Art Hub and Galashiels as part of this network and we hope to learn from each other and share our experiences over the next 16 or so months!

Our first Imagine Galashiels Artist Residency has begun and Little Art Hub member Emma Whigham will be working with slowness and quietness as practices, with walking as a starting point, exploring different ways of imagining and being in community. The residency is rooted in the idea that it takes all kinds of minds and paces to build a healthy society, much as diverse ecosystems thrive in nature. Emma's process-led approach lets ideas grow from each other and from natural curiosity, rather than working towards a fixed outcome.

Culture Collective is a network of participatory arts projects, shaped by local communities alongside artists and creative organisations. Funded by Scottish Government through Creative Scotland, Each unique project is designed and driven by the community in which it is rooted, playing an important part in shaping

the future cultural life of Scotland.
