Culture Collective

We are delighted to announce that we have been given the go ahead to use the windows at 34 - 36 Channel street as part of our Culture Collective ‘Imagine Galashiels’ project while the premises are being developed by Scottish Borders Housing Association who now own this building.

We will, amongst other creative things, be using the windows for:

  • a large-scale community noticeboard to connect our local community with events and news from around town

  • updates on our Culture Collective Imagine Galashiels project and Places of Possibilities

  • a space to exhibit work

  • Local Place Plan updates

  • showcasing local creative community projects

Watch this space for more info!

Please contact us if you have an idea for these window spaces or are a community group who would like to be part of the community noticeboard:

GALA PAINTED SPACES
Paint Jam

Little Art Hub space and windows have been filled with amazing bold art from the Street Art Curiosity Exhibition and Gala Paint Jam project over the last few weeks.

Some of our local artists and young people joined together with artists from across Scotland in this project painting on large boards over a weekend. We encourage you all to go and see the new awesome art outside the Focus Centre and on the wall at the back of our building (viewable from the job centre car park) as well as the art still on show in our own exhibition space.

Huge thanks to Coz from all of us for running this fantasic event. Also thank you to ALL of the artists and facilitators and to all of those people who showed up across the weekend, who weren't afraid to give it a go and kept going with plenty of brilliant ideas and motivation. Thank you to ones who couldn't make the weekend but were a massive part in building the idea along the way.

It has been so heartwarming to see artists coming to join us and share their skills with the young people we work with and to see those young people discovering their identities as artists too.
