Carving Tomorrow: An Imagine Galashiels Linocut FREE Workshop with Emma Whigham
What does the future hold for Galashiels? Join us for a collaborative printmaking workshop where we'll carve our collective vision into reality, one letter at a time. Together, we'll create the word IMAGINE! through decorative linocut letters that will become a banner hung in our window – letting our message of possibility spill out onto the streets for all to see.
This isn' t just about making art; it's about making space for big dreams and bold conversations about what Galashiels could become.

Folding Futures: A Community Zine Workshop
with Emma Whigham
Exploring the word "imagine" as a group, using it as a springboard for thinking about the changes, dreams, and possibilities you'd like to see in our community. You' ll then learn how to fold a simple 8-page zine from a single sheet of paper - a technique that transforms ordinary A4 into a proper small publication. Using collage, pens and pencils, you'll fill your zine with your visions for our town's future.
At the end of the session, we'll photocopy everyone's zines so you can take home your original whilst contributing to a collection that captures our community's hopes and ideas. These zines may be shared around town to spark further conversations about our collective future.

Pause, Press, Print : A Dry point Etching workshop
with Ann Louise Kieran
Pondering the future of a ‘place’, often gives pause to consider both its present and its past.
Join artist Ann Louise Kieran, for an absorbing workshop in dry point etching. Working from present day images of Channel Street and beyond… participants will be guided through this very accessible print process, to produce etchings with a nod to Galashiels from 100 years ago, in style and technique. Immortalise the current street views we often take for granted and preserve this memory for the next 100 years in an ever-changing Gala!

Spray Curious: An Introduction to the magic of stencils with
Coz Harrison
Once you have a stencil, it is a quick and easy way to reproduce an image or a sign anywhere you can imagine.
They can be humorous, political, beautiful or all of the above.
In this session you will be introduced to the process of stencil making and how it has become an exciting medium for street artists. We will take a little journey through some recent examples and then you will have the opportunity to design your own. Once you have created your stencil, you will have the opportunity to use spray paint to try it out.
Taking inspiration from our local environment, we'd ask if you could bring along an image that you'd like to transform into a stencil. Try not to bring in anything too complicated, but maybe the image of a flower you've seen growing or a funny object in a charity shop. If you can print this out that would be great, but if not, we will have plenty!
Your artist for this session will be Coz aka Eyesorecozza who has been bothering walls with paint at any opportunity for the best part of her life.

Anywhere is a Canvas with Coz Harrison
We are surrounded by canvasses to paint on. This session will not just get you thinking about murals and street art but what else could you paint on? We will get to think about fresh ideas about what your style is and the possibilities of where we can add paint! Finding your style and opening up to the possibilities as we explore and imagine putting art in unexpected places.
For this session a range of objects and surfaces will be provided for you to transform. Participants are also welcome to bring along their own objects. Maybe you have a plate or an ornament that you were thinking of chucking away? With Primer and paints, we can see what we can transform it into.
There will also be time allocated during this session to explore the potential of local canvasses and take photographs.
Your artist for this session will be Coz aka Eyesorecozza who has been bothering walls with paint at any opportunity for the best part of her life.

People's Banners 1: Screen Print with Lara Greene
Join Lara Greene: Artist, LAH member and Director of Transform Arts CIC for a session where your ideas and creativity are needed!
You will learn to screen print on coloured reclaimed fabrics, to create designs that will later be sewed together into collaborative banners which will ‘pop up’ around Galashiels. We will explore ways to create a positive sense of community and well-being in the town centre of Galashiels.
For people of any backgrounds and culture and however long you have lived here, your ideas and opinions matter and can be expressed through the art! By creating designs though simple paper cut out imagery and text, then using these as a template for your screen print, we will make vibrant collaborative banners to be shared with the wider community.
