This exhibition presents selected outcomes from learners of Scottish Borders high schools who took part in a portfolio building class. Students engaged with adventurous techniques in a diverse range of materials. Their studies include life drawing, sculptural experimentation, painting and miniature forms, exploring key visual elements such as negative space, composition and structure. Addressing themes of portraiture, the built environment and the natural world, the work reflects both technical progress and creative exploration. The exhibition offers insight into the developing practices of our emerging young artists!

Into the Woods: An Exhibition of artwork by Pippa Sinclair
Sat 29th Nov- Tues 2nd Dec
Fri 5th Dec- Sat 6th Dec
10.30-3pm
Laser engraving meets painting in an exhibition of landscape art.
In this exhibition Pippa Sinclair will show a selection of artworks developed with the support of her recent VACMA award and other works relating to these. She has been exploring ways of transferring landscape drawings onto reclaimed wooden panels and working on top of them with paint. The latest developments involve laser engraving - using the laser like an experimental drawing tool and trying out as many different approaches to this as she can. It has been about learning new processes and accepting and working with random happenstances.
Always led by her love of the beautiful land that surrounds us here in the Borders, this show will be a journey of landscapes from canvas onto and into wood.
